Kathryn Tennie Summers Green went home to live with her Heavenly Father on March 10, 2026. She passed away peacefully in her home in Bountiful, Utah.
Kathy was born on November 24, 1945, in Tremonton, Utah, to Marion Summers and Edythe (Davis) Summers. Kathy married her beloved husband Steven D. Green on September 7, 1967, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They have 5 children together and 11 grandchildren.
Kathy’s most important role in life was being a wife, mother and grandma. Her greatest joy came from caring for her family and spending time with them. Some of her nicknames her family called her were Tuff, Tootsie, Mo, and Grammie.
Kathy loved to dance and was on the Bear River Drill team in high school. She attended Utah State University where she was the president of the Aggiettes Drill Team. Kathy was an attendant to the Peach Queen and was Dairy Princess and Miss Wheat and Beet Days in 1963. She reigned as Miss Box Elder County in 1965. And she was a finalist and talent winner in the Miss Utah Scholarship pageant.
Kathy graduated from Utah State University in Physical Education and years later earned her Master’s in Education.
Kathy taught at Box Elder High School, Clearfield High School, and Viewmont High School. Kathy was the advisor of the Clearfield Dance team and the Viewmont Vykelles Drill Team. She taught health and Impact Team. Kathy built the Impact Team to serve the school community, give lessons on friendship and responsibility, and make a difference within the elementary schools. Students loved having Kathy as a teacher and they would call her Mother Green. She made a tremendous impact on so many students lives and they loved having her as their teacher.
Vacations to Disneyland were very important to her. She took her kids there while they were young for most of their family vacations. Once she had grandchildren she wanted to experience Disneyland with them. All the grandchildren got to enjoy going to Disneyland with Grandma. She loved riding the roller coasters and going on Small World with them. She also took her students from the Impact Team to Disneyland for leadership conferences. They would also visit the Holocaust Museum.
Some of Kathy’s hobbies were singing and dancing. She loved to make seasonal crafts with her kids. She enjoyed making cookies and brownies and we always had Fantasy Fudge at Christmas. She was an excellent seamstress who made the best and extremely unique Halloween costumes. She also made several dance costumes for her daughters and their dance teams.
Kathy was truly loved by her family and will be deeply missed. Kathy is survived by her husband Steve, her children, Allyson Smith (Gavin), Doug Green (Caroline), Marianne Sexton (John), Mindy Jo Greene (Logan), Matthew Green (Danielle), and by her 11 grandchildren.
