Katherine LeNore Cahoon

March 22, 1939 — November 29, 2015

Our beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 following a lingering illness. Katherine was born March 22, 1939 in Salt Lake City to Daniel Albert and LeNore Weggeland Grundmann, the oldest of four children. She graduated from East High School and the University of Utah with a degree in music education. She married John Gary Cahoon, later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He died December 12, 1979.  They raised two children, Kelly and Troy.  Katherine married LaMont Hamblin, later divorced.

Katherine was a gifted violinist and musician. She taught instrumental music for Granite School District. She later owned and operated a sign business and worked for the Salt Lake City Police Department. Katherine was a lifelong member of the LDS church.

Katherine is survived by her daughter, Kelly Buckmiller (Dan) and son, Troy Cahoon, former daughter-in-law Wendy Centeno, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Daniel Grundmann (Vanita), and sisters, Frances Morgan (Dennis Michael) and Nina Creech (Roger), as well as several nieces and nephews who adored her. She was a light in our lives and will be sorely missed. We were so blessed to have her in our family,
