Listen to Obituary

Karol Lynn Baxter Evans passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, at the age of 88 in Cedar City, Utah. True to her love for a good party, she went out with a bang on our nation’s 250th birthday.

Karol was born October 30, 1937, in Ogden, Utah, at McKay-Dee Hospital to William McKinley Baxter and Mary Finis Wright. Her childhood and teenage years were spent in Ogden. She married the love of her life, Orren Morse Evans, on December 30, 1952. After the birth of their first child, they moved to Glendale, California, where Morse pursued a career with the Continental Baking Company in Beverly Hills. Throughout their years in California, they also lived in North Hollywood, Arleta, Simi Valley, Chino, and Palmdale, completing their family with two daughters.

A dedicated worker, Karol served as a bookkeeper for Kinney Shoes and worked at the Broadway Department Store while living in Arleta, and later worked as a bookkeeper for Boys Republic while in Chino. In Palmdale, Morse and Karol worked side-by-side at a local flower shop, where Karol’s artistic floral arrangements were proudly delivered around town by Morse.

In 2001, they returned to their Utah roots, living in her late sister Norma's home before building their dream home in Clinton in May 2004. Karol lived there until 2023, spending her final three years in Cedar City. She was lovingly cared for by her son Rick and his wife Audrey until July 2024, when she transitioned to an assisted living facility.

An accomplished pianist, Karol played effortlessly with precision and grace until her final days. She was also a talented seamstress, crocheter, gardener, and a passionate genealogist who loved preserving ancestral stories. A faithful member of her church, she served joyfully as Chorister, Pianist, Young Women leader, and Relief Society teacher. Karol wished to be remembered as honest, kind, and helpful, living by the spirit of her favorite song, Frank Sinatra's "My Way." Though the music has ended, her melody remains forever.

Karol is survived by her 3 children and their spouses: Rick Evans and Audrey Evans of Cedar City, UT, and their 9 children (Melissa Nordstrom, Michele Kewley, Amanda Haas, Christian Evans, Nicholas Evans, Benjamin Evans, Megan Smith, MacKenzie Harris, and Jeremy Evans); her daughter Cheryl Ramos and spouse Mario Ramos of Salt Lake City, UT, and their 3 children (Sheri Collins, William Ramos, and Joshua Ramos); and daughter Mary Harrison and spouse Jeff Harrison of American Fork, UT, and their 2 daughters (Amy Foushee and Rachel Foht). Karol’s amazing posterity also includes 14 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Morse.

Services will be held Saturday, July 18. 2026 10 am. Russon Mortuary 1585 W. 300 S. Syracuse, UT.  There will be a viewing prior to services from 9 - 9:45.  Interment will be at the Ogden City Cemetery.
