1966 Karen 2022

Karen Wright Smith

July 9, 1966 — August 28, 2022

Farmington, UT

Karen Wright Smith was born July 9, 1966, to Wayne and LaRae Wright in Farmington, NM. She peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on August 28,2022, after a short but fierce battle with Leukemia.

Karen was raised in Bountiful, UT alongside 2 brothers, 2 sisters and a foster sister, that she loved fully. Karen married Scott Smith in the Salt Lake Temple and raised their only daughter, Mindy, together and later divorced. Her world revolved around her daughter and making sure she was always taken care of. She was everyone’s cheerleader and glue that held them together, especially for Mindy.

Karen was extremely talented and never wavered when asked to try and expand her talents. She was a beautiful singer and her favorite way to utilize her musical talents was as primary chorister. She loved watching children learn her favorite songs. Karen was a self-taught artist that had a beautiful natural gift. She painted murals, landscapes, portraits, cards and made special personalized painted shirts for her favorite little kids. Karen had a talent for finding laughter and fun anywhere. She would plot out pranks for girls camp, family parties, or just on her innocent family living with her. She was constantly loosing control laughing and apologizing about laughing at inappropriate times making all those around her laugh and feel comfortable. Her talents have reached and touched so many far and wide.

Her greatest accomplishment of all was taking care and eternally loving her grandson McCoy. She taught McCoy many things from art, science, math, and a love for reading. She planned messy, fun activities for them to do every time he was with her. Most importantly she taught McCoy to love others as they were, without any judgement. He will always have a kind spirit that she instilled in him.

Karen wouldn’t want us to be sad in her passing but rejoice with her in her newfound wings and perfect body. Karen was known for her kind spirit and joyful contagious laugh. In lieu of flowers please find a way to serve a fellow neighbor and look for something good to smile and laugh about.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Mindy, son-in-law Colton Farnes, and her sweet grandson McCoy. Parents Wayne and LaRae (Brown) Wright. Brothers Randy (Lynn) Wright, David (Penny) Wright. Sisters LuAnn (Curt) Calder, Janet (John) Harper. As well as many nephews and nieces that she loved as her own.
