Karen Marie Barton passed away peacefully Saturday December 4th at 4:30 PM from A-Typical Parkinson’s Disease. She was born October 12, 1961 in Northridge, California to June Ann Schurb and Coleman Rex Lawson.
Karen’s family lived in Canoga Park, California for a while, then moved to Mammoth, California.
Then Karen moved to Reno, Nevada and graduated from Hug High School in 1979. She then worked at J.C. Penney co. from 1988 to about 1999, and also did home care for the elderly, as well as continuing her education. She Graduated Truckee Meadows Community Collage in 1999.
Karen met Dennis online by a fluke...She had sent a cartoon to a friend of hers, but had misspelled the email address and it went to Dennis instead, well Dennis liked the cartoon and replied to Karen telling her that email came as a mistake, because he didn’t know her. They started communicating back and forth and eventually became friends.
Dennis & Karen were married in Reno, Nevada May 19, 1999 and moved to Syracuse later that year with her 3 Children.
Karen started working at the University of Utah Burn Unit, and at night she kept working on her schooling, while Dennis tried to keep the kids quiet. She pursued schooling and achieved her Bachlor’s degree. Karen has also worked at the University of New Mexico as a Plastic Surgury Nurse Practitioner. She then worked at the McKee-Dee Hospital in Ogden in Trauma, which included ICU, Surgical, Joint and Spine Rehab, ER, Intermediate Cardiac, Medical, and Pediatrics, and finally in Ortho Trauma until she developed the Parkinson’s Disease, and could no longer work.
Karen was a planner, and we traveled all over the world. She would have each trip all planned out all along the way...every Bed & Breakfast, every rental car and every excursion in every location of the trip.
Karen Loved Disneyland and all things Disney, and it seemed like she was always planning a trip to California to take family members to share the fun with.
Karen was also an avid Harry Potter Fan, and was always reading the books, watching the movies, and always collecting memorabilia.
