Jury Eldred Toone

Jury finished his earthly existence just prior to his 99th birthday. Green River, Wyoming, and Bountiful, Utah, were his homes all these years. He was born March 25, 1925. His parents Eldred and Wanda Toone, and his bride Marjean, among other loved ones, welcomed him home.

Jury and Marjean have been sealed for 77 amazing years. Together they are blessed with 4 children: Kent (Susan) Toone, Susan (Jim) Tadje, Marianne (Joel) Dayton, and David (Cheryl) Toone, 31 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Jury is also survived by his sweetheart’s sister Janice Freckleton.

In High School, Jury earned letters in three major sports – football, basketball and track. Prior to his military service, he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 18. His military service blessed his life and complemented his love for America. He is a decorated World War II veteran.

To say Jury and Marjean loved to dance is a significant understatement. They are dancing in heaven. Jury and Marjean worked together building a successful business in Salt Lake City, Utah, – Redwood Nurseries, Inc. They traveled the world, completed 3 missions (Bacolod Philippines, 150 Year Anniversary Pioneer Wagon Train/Handcart Re-enactment to the Salt Lake Valley, and Nauvoo Illinois Temple), and served 33 years together as temple workers.

His counsel to each of us: “If you can’t say somethin’ nice, don’t say nothin’ at all.” If you know him, you possess a priceless gift, cherish it. Stenciled on their dining room wall is, “People are more important than things,” and he lived it.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the Bountiful Oak Hills Ward Chapel, 455 South 1200 East, Bountiful, Utah. An evening viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main in Bountiful. A morning viewing will take place Monday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment – Bountiful City Cemetery
