Judy RuNae Scadlock

Our beautiful, spirited, red-headed mother, grandmother, cousin, aunt and friend, Judy RuNae Carsey Scadlock, left this world in the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 7th, 2026, to join her eternal companion, Arlen J Scadlock, one day before her 89th birthday.

Mom was born on January 8, 1937, to Delbert Henry and Burlith Kartchner Carsey in Salt Lake City, Utah. At 11 months of age she contracted polio. The doctors at that time thought it was best to immobilize the affected limbs by putting a brace on her left arm and right leg. The years of wearing her brace left her left arm permanently stunted and paralyzed. Gratefully, they couldn't keep her from running and playing with her brother and cousins, thereby exercising her left leg and allowing her the full use of it throughout her life. She could do an amazing one-handed cartwheel. There wasn't anything she couldn't do!

Mom grew up in Salt Lake City and was a proud graduate of East High School class of 1955.

Our parents were married on June 22, 1956, in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they were blessed with five children: Wayne, Kally, Kent, Rick and Terry. Her children were her "greatest treasures" and her happiest times were when she had them all together.

She loved her grandchildren more than words can say and enjoyed spending time with each of them.

Mom was an excellent baker. There was rarely a day we didn't have a freshly baked treat when we returned home from school. Singing was an important part of our mother's life. She loved to sing while cleaning and "tossing" furniture around the house - she loved to rearrange her furniture! Her beautiful voice will always be a cherished memory we hold in our hearts.

She enjoyed her time working at Barnes Bank in Kaysville and made many dear friends.

Together, our parents were called to serve in the Louisiana, Baton Rouge Mission. They loved the people they served.

They also spent eight years as ushers at the Conference Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, where they had meaningful experiences and made lifetime friends.

Our mother loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit many parts of the world with family and friends. One of her favorite memories was seeing the Panama City, Panama Temple from the cruise ship.

She was the best listener, our confidant, our example of strength and endurance, and our friend. She will be deeply missed by all who know and love her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arlen, both of her parents, her brother Keith and sister Dorthy, grandchildren, Brittany Scadlock and Devin Scadlock, and great-granddaughter, Finley Scadlock.

She is survived by her children, Wayne (Brenda), Kally (Mark), Kent, Rick (Jeff), Terry (Nicole), fifteen grandchildren, and thirty-two great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at the Russon Brothers Mortuary at 1941 North Main, Farmington, UT 84025 on Friday, January 16th, from 6:00-8:00pm.

Funeral services will be held Saturday January 17, 2026, at 11:00am at 725 South 200 East, Layton, Utah 84041. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:45 -10:45 am, prior to the services.

In honor of our mom and grandma please wear orange, take a moment to appreciate the beauty of an evening sunset, and enjoy a frosty cold Dr Pepper.
