Judy Sharon Saunders Chesley of West Haven passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, in Clearfield. She was born on August 14, 1950, in Lexington, Kentucky to Pauline Williams and Ben Erastus Rich Saunders.
Judy attended Eastwood High School before moving to Bowling Green for her junior and senior years, a difficult transition that helped shape her resilience and compassion for others. She graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1968. She also spent a year attending Ricks College, now known as Brigham Young University–Idaho, in Rexburg. She later attended Weber State University, where she earned both her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Education.
Judy dedicated much of her life to education and teaching, sharing her kindness and encouragement with countless students at Morgan Elementary and Vae View Elementary.
Judy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving and connecting with others. She had a gift for making people feel welcomed, supported, and cared for wherever she went.
On January 12, 1973, Judy married David Vernon Chesley in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they built a loving family and adopted five children, creating a home centered on love, faith, laughter, and support.
Judy loved art and painting, especially watercolor painting with family and friends. She loved spending time with the people she cared about and was always ready to help anyone in need. Judy was funny, fun, and a bit cheeky, often bringing laughter into every room she entered. She had a special way of keeping everyone together and making family feel connected.
She is survived by her children: Erin (Andrew Sherlock) Chesley, Jenny (Shawn) Jackson, Robert (Amy) Chesley, and Adri-Anne Chesley; and her beloved grandchildren: Josh, Luke, Corbin, Quinn, Sophia, and Rhyan. She is also survived by her siblings Debbie Rudd, David Saunders, Jessica Walters, and Leslie Saunders.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, David Vernon Chesley; her son Jason Chesley; her brother Steven Saunders; her sister Linda Saunders; and her parents.
Though deeply missed, Judy leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, laughter, and compassion. Her family finds peace in the belief that she has been joyfully reunited with loved ones who have gone before her, and that families can be together forever.
