Joy Jones, 91, passed away at her home February 15, 2016 in Bountiful, Utah. She was born on January 5, 1925 in Huntington, Utah. Born to Hans Albert Tuft and Vivian Reed Tuft. She was the third of eight children.
She has resided in the same house in Bountiful, Utah for the past 65 years and has been in several wards as the boundaries changed around her.
She met Samuel Wayne Smedley at the Coconut Grove Dance Hall and they were married in August of 1947. They were loving parents of 5 children and enjoyed 34 years of marriage before Wayne’s passing in December 1982.
Edward Ancell was her Home Teacher for many years and became Joy’s second husband. They served a mission in Nauvoo and loved to travel together. Ed passed away of cancer after several years of marriage.
In 1994 Joy met Edward Jones at the Murray Arts Center at a dance. Later they married and were happily married 18 years until Ed passed away. In the summer these 2 spent lots of time in their yard making it beautiful.
Joy did beautiful work as a seamstress and spent many nights up late finishing her projects. She spent 2 nights a week at LDS Hospital, in the admitting area for 28 years. After she retired she started tap dancing with the Golden Years Retirement Center and ended up spending 21 years with the “Dancing Grannies”. They performed at nursing homes, church functions and she had fond memories of this and the close association with her friends there.
The family would like to acknowledge the assistance, support and guidance of the Bountiful 4th ward, the Intermountain Heart Failure Clinic and the Intermountain Homecare Hospice Team.
