Josephine Jensen Johnson, 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Bountiful, Utah, November 6th, 2007 surrounded by her family. She was the youngest of seven children born to James Peter Jensen and Lettie Marinda Stevens on September 24, 1918 in Sanford, Colorado. Jo graduated from Sanford High School at 16, and from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. She was chosen for Who?s Who in American Colleges and Universities and voted the most Representative Girl in the college. She taught grade school for 10 years in Colorado LeVeta, Del Norta, Pueblo and Salt Lake City, Utah before marrying her sweetheart Clifton Johnson. They built a life together in Bountiful and were blessed with six wonderful children, and an Indian placement son Webster Mahone for 5 years. Josephine was vivacious, personable, and loving. She loved dancing and music, and enjoyed spending time with her family. She always saw the good in people. Jo served with Clifton over the England Central Mission 1969-1972 with their 6 children. She also served with her husband for 4 years in the Salt Lake Mission Home MTC, 18 years in the Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples. Other service includes Stake Relief Society Presidency, Ward Relief Society President, Primary Presidency, Gospel Doctrine instructor. Jo was active in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and served as president of her Chapter. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and two brothers, Leila Messervy, Melva Layton, Marba White, James Jensen, Faye Larson, Walter Jensen, Ardell Miner, and one grandchild John Henry Johnson. She is survived by her eternal companion Clifton Ivan Johnson, children John Ivan Sonja of Spokane, WA, Francine Johnson of Bountiful, Leslie Watson Rick of Anchorage, AK, Kathy Jo Cook Rulan of Idaho Falls, ID, Scott Johnson Sherry of Bountiful and Timothy Johnson Trudy of Farmington, twenty six grand children and one great grandchild, a cousin raised as a brother Wesley Stevens, and brother in law John Miner, sister in law Anna Jensen. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 9th, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. noon at the Bountiful 4th Ward, 102 East 1400 South. A viewing will precede the service from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friends and family may call Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. Interment-Farmington Cemetery.
