Joseph Ralph Taylor, age 64, passed away on January 3, 2026, in Mount Pleasant, Utah, following a brief illness and after having previously battled stage 4 lymphatic cancer.
He was born on October 8, 1961, in Hamilton, Montana.
He is survived by his children: Jaclyn (Dane) Davis, Kyle (Katie) Taylor, Jennifer (Cooper) Trost, Michael, and Landon; his father, Ralph Taylor; and his eight siblings. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Jones, and his brother, James.
Joe was known among his friends and family for his dependability and willingness to help. His siblings remember him as someone who was consistently present, readily answered calls for help, and expressed his love through good-natured teasing, shared time together, and memorable dutch oven meals. These moments reflected his commitment to family and the relationships he cherished.
His children fondly remember him going above and beyond to support their talents and interests, whether it was painstakingly researching pianos and saxophones for Jaclyn or staying up all night on Christmas Eve to construct a batting cage for Kyle. He truly wanted the best for all his children, and whenever he did something, he did it all the way.
While he loved providing grand gestures, his children most cherish the simple memories: playing hide-and-seek in the dark with his extremely creative hiding spots, “dolphins” in the hotel pool, sleeping bag sledding at Yellowstone, and him always being up for a competitive board game. He was at his best when he was carefree and playful as a dad.
He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hiking, fishing, and hunting. Throughout his life, Joe sought opportunities to assist and care for others whenever possible. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in various capacities and endeavored to live according to his beliefs.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing from 9:45–10:45 a.m. The services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse located at 1533 N 1075 W, Farmington, Utah. Interment will take place at a later date at the Kaysville City Cemetery, where Joe will be laid to rest alongside his brother James.
Services will be streamed live on the Russon Mortuary Live Facebook page and on this obituary page. The live stream will begin 10-15 minutes prior to services and will be posted below.
Joe will be remembered for his steady presence in the lives he touched, willingness to serve, and the quality time shared with others. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
