Centerville, UT

Joseph Chet Ray, Loved father, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend as well as bunny rescuer, passed away July 31st, 2025, at the age of 66. He was born October 6, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Son of Edmond G. and Gloria S. Ray. Currently residing in the house he grew up in.

Chet graduated from Viewmont High School. He served an LDS mission to New York City. Making lifelong friends. After which he spent time trying to find the best pizza places here in Utah. Z Brothers and Pie Pizzeria were two of his favorites.

Married Glorie Leary, becoming dad to her young daughter, Alisha. The couple later welcomed sons Chad and Jeremy. Chet and Glorie later divorced.

His dad supervised Chet, Glorie and friend, Bill Earl in building the family home in West Bountiful, Utah. Sadly, his dad passed before the home was completed.

Chet was a handyman, skilled in many trades, ranging from construction to electronics. He spent a great deal of time working with and building computers. Later working in alarm systems and most recently cabinetry.

Chet enjoyed taking the family’s beloved family dog to the family cabin at Bear Lake. He also enjoyed target shooting with the boys, as well as occasionally blowing up pumpkins and squash. He especially enjoyed the trips to Wyoming for fireworks for holiday celebrations.

Chet had a love for animals, and was known as the “Bunny man.” He usually had a bunny with him wherever he went. He helped pass that love of animals on to the kids.

He spent many years helping out in the community using many of his skills, which he loved doing. Chet will be greatly missed.

Chet is survived by his brother Lee (Linda). Children Alisha, Chad (Megan) and Jeremy. Nieces Andrea, Monica and nephew Isaac. Preceded in death by his parents Ed and Gloria.
