Joseph Kearns Lawson

Our dear husband, father and friend passed away peacefully in his beloved Bountiful home on November 15, 2016.

He was sealed to Marlene Burningham in the Salt Lake LDS Temple May 23, 1952 and enjoyed 63 years of marriage.  Survived by William (Sheralee), Jolene Nannini (Robert), Kathy Milligan (Donald); 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by his son, J. Lynn Lawson.

Joseph was an LDS missionary in the Texas Louisiana Mission after serving his country in the Navy during World War II.  Following his LDS mission he was drafted into the Army during the Korean war. 

Joseph was an avid Scouter.  He served faithfully in many positions at the unit, district and council level.  He blessed the lives of many young men through Scouting.  He was honored to receive the Silver Beaver award for his service.

He was a prolific gardener and was often called "Farmer Joe".  He shared many bushels of fruit and vegetables with friends, family and neighbors during his lifetime.  We will miss the fresh corn and tomatoes that he produced.

Joe and Marlene also enjoyed working in the Bountiful Temple for more than 17 years.

Funeral services will be held on Friday November 18, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Bountiful 34th Ward, 540 North 1200 East Bountiful, Utah.  Family and friends may attend a viewing on Thursday November 17, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main St. Bountiful, and at the church on Friday from 9:45-10:45 am prior to the services.

Joseph lived a happy, service filled life.  He was a friend to all.  We love him and know that he is enjoying a grand reward and reunion.
