On a chilly, damp spring day, April 17, 1961, Jon Beattie and Sharon Seamons Stoddard were blessed with their third child, Kurt. He became the magic link and true middle sibling in their family, with two older sisters and two younger brothers.
In the early years, our family of 5 enjoyed vacations to Sun Valley, Disneyland and many car trips to Idaho to visit our grandparents. We would sing our way through each adventure, with Kurt always picking his favorite song "Jingle Bells" even in the summer! We loved playing outside, especially with our dog Ginger. Kurt loved animals and they loved him!
All throughout his life, Kurt had a true sense of adventure. He took great pride in his 1972 green Cougar, his jeep, and his Honda 1000 motorcycle.
He shared that adventuring spirit with his two younger brothers, nine and eleven years his junior, following his motorcycle accident. Before that, the boys thought Kurt was larger than life. They would follow him, and as brothers do, to tease him and idolize him.
After his motorcycle accident, a deep friendship emerged. Kurt took his brothers to some of their first concerts, sparking a lifelong love of Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, and others. They loved watching football and going to Wendover with their dad. Many nights were filled with poker games and shooting pool.
In addition to his relationship with his brothers, Kurt also had a tight group of lifelong friends. His best friend, Kim Johnson, who helped him through some harrowing adventures. Kurt and Kim loved movies, and he was her personal movie scout. He also loved television, especially crime shows, never missing a single episode of Law & Order.
Kurt was a man who would stand his ground and defend his beliefs, yet always with respect and kindness toward others. He was extremely conscientious and thorough, a faithful and loving friend who was always willing to help. He will truly be missed.
Kurt passed away unexpectedly from medical complications on June 15, 2026. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah.
