John Keith Ward, born on April 11, 1971, in Ogden, Utah, passed away on June 29, 2026. His life, though ended too soon, was a testament to laughter, adventure, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear.
Born to Keith J. Ward and Ruby L. Van Sickle, John's early years in Ogden were filled with the love and guidance of his parents and his sister, Lola. From an early age, John exhibited a zest for life that was infectious, and his kindness was matched only by his sense of humor.
A graduate of Weber High School in 1989, John's life was a tapestry of varied interests and passions. His love for music, sports, and horror movies was well known and a large piece of who he was. If anyone needed a well placed, hilarious movie quote, he was there. Karate and the great outdoors were arenas where John found joy and solace, but above all, his heart belonged to his family.
On March 1st, 2004, John married his soulmate, Jennifer Ward, embarking on a life journey filled with adventures, laughter, and fun. Their partnership was a beacon of love and support, and together, they built a family that was the center of John's universe. His children, Morgan Ward, Courtney Slater (Amanda), Kirsten Slater, Cassandra Slater (Jesse), Caleb Slater (Georgie), Abigail Ward (Mark), Cade Ward (Kyra), Raquel Ward, and Lola Ward (Seth), were his pride and joy. John embraced fatherhood with the same enthusiasm and dedication he applied to all his endeavors, making sure to include his family in every aspect of his life.
John's legacy extends through his grandchildren, Braxton, James, and Luna, who brought him immense joy and fulfillment. He was the grandfather who always had a joke at the ready, a story to tell, or a listening ear to offer, ensuring that every moment spent together was cherished. Being grandpa was his favorite job.
Characterized by his unparalleled ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, John's warmth and humor forged friendships wherever he went. His knack for using well-placed movie quotes to lighten any situation was legendary, and his kindness was a guiding principle in his life.
John's family invites those who wish to honor his memory to consider a donation to a charity of their choice in his name, go watch a fun movie, get some concert tickets or go rep the Utah Mammoth.
