1965 John 2025

John Marshall Saltzgiver

April 27, 1965 — November 21, 2025

Bountiful, UT

John Marshall Saltzgiver was born to Wayne Marshall Saltzgiver and Helen Salter in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 27th, 1965. He passed away on November 21st, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah, due to complications from severe acute pancreatitis.

John earned his master’s degree in accounting from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He had a successful career in accounting and worked as the Chief Financial Officer at Cornerstone Residential for over twenty years, becoming part-owner in 2020.

John married to his high school sweetheart, Cynthia Elaine Jaques, on August 18th, 1988, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They shared 37 beautiful years of marriage together. John and Cynthia met at Woods Cross High School and were best friends for nearly a year before falling in love at a Beach Boys concert in 1983.

John was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and ability to make others laugh. His favorite form of love was teasing, and he always had the funniest comebacks and inside jokes. John was exceptionally gifted in math, and he spared his family members from ever needing to use a calculator! John loved cars, sports, hiking, movies, and listening to oldies music. He had a playlist for every occasion and could create clever little rhymes and ditties on the spot. He had a keen eye for architectural design and landscaping. John especially enjoyed taking long drives, visiting Broadhead Meadows, stopping in Kamas for hamburgers, and spending time with his family around the campfire near the waterfall feature he designed at his Bountiful home. One of his lifelong passions was restoring and converting classic cars, especially Ford Mustangs. At age 14, he saved up and built his first car, a 1965 poppy red Mustang coupe, alongside the help of his dad. That beloved car remains in the family to this day. His favorite color was orange, he treated a double Coke on ice like liquid gold, and his happy place was with his family in Yellowstone National Park.

John is survived by his wife: Cynthia Elaine, and their two children, Jesse Wayne Saltzgiver (and wife, Sadie), and Sara Ann Salas (and husband, Ruben).

John was an incredibly sentimental, caring, and thoughtful man. He gave excellent advice and consistently put others before himself. He was the world’s best husband, son, brother, dad, best friend, “stud muffin”, and hero. His kind and gentle spirit will be remembered and cherished forever.

At John’s request, all services will be private.
