1950 John 2023

John Squires Roark

September 27, 1950 — June 27, 2023

Bountiful, UT

John Squires Roark  passed away unexpectedly, but surrounded by  family and friends, while listening to the tunes of Randy Newman, Weird Al Yankovic, and The Lovin’ Spoonful.

He is survived by his daughters Shani and Ciara, five grandchildren, his mother Dorothy, brothers Robert and Lynn, and sister Marsha. His eldest daughter is now on the market for new assistant fantasy-football coach. His younger daughter is seeking a connoisseur and lover of all things B movie.

John will be remembered for his sterling wit, off color jokes, remarkable knowledge of literature and trivia, and his questionable fashion sense. You may know him from his time at Bountiful High School, the University of Utah, or his many years working for the Newspaper Agency Corporation. You may remember him as the tall guy who hated shoes, but was always willing to tell you about his  “neeeewww thocks.”

John had a passion for golf, travel, scuba diving, photography, basketball, football, and causing mischief. John wouldn’t want it publicized, but everyone who knew him well was aware of his generous spirit and willingness to lookout for others.

A Celebration of Life will take place from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Meadow Brook Golf Course, 4197 South 1300 West, Taylorsville, Utah.

For John, life was too short to not see the humor in every situation. With that in mind, we think that if he were here to choose, John would want this to end with the words of Napoleon XIV: “They’re coming to take me away, haha!”
