John Howard Gressmen
"Big John"
1959-2025
Our Beloved Dad, Husband, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and friend, John Howard Gressmen, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 19th, 2025, at the age of 66.
John was a happy go lucky guy. He always had a joke to tell, and his wit and timing could not be beat! If you called to ask what he was doing, he would likely reply "playing a little parcheesi", if you asked how he was going to get somewhere, he'd say "punt"! If you had the hiccups, he could cure you of them in one minute flat. He was strong enough to beat up Hulk Hogan and could sing circles around Garth Brooks and, well, anyone! He would give you the shirt off his back and the last dollar in his pocket, if you needed it.
The tricks up his sleeve were endless, and there was never a dull moment with him.
He was very athletic and an outdoorsman, playing high school football and softball as an adult, where he met many of his lifelong friends. He loved golfing, fishing and hunting. Camping was the best and family was everything. If trees could talk, he and his brothers would be in a lot of trouble from all their hunting shenanigans! He would have hunted and fished til his very last day, if his body would have let him. He was a lifelong, diehard L.A. Rams fan and had a large collection of hats and jerseys to prove it!
Above all, he loved his sweetheart, wife of 46 years and eternal companion, Lori. Together they had 3 girls, who each grew up with their own variety of wit and sarcasm, but with hearts of gold, just like their Dad. One of his favorite roles of all time was Grandpa. His 5 grandkids always put a twinkle, and sometimes tears, in his piercing blue eyes. He was the middle child of 7 siblings, and loved his brothers and sisters dearly. He is surely having a loud, obnoxious reunion with his brother, Scott, and nephew, Jake, who passed a few years ago.
Family vacations, softball tournaments, singing in the car and being "undefeated" at all board and card games in history are some of the many things we will remember him for but, mostly the love for his family. Wife, Lori, Daughters Amber (Dusty) Schick, Ashley (Steven) Ahleen and Whitney Gressmen. His Grandkids Avery, Stetson and Sawyer Schick, and Oaklee and Archer Ahleen.
We love you "Threeteen" Dad!
"Hasta la Vista, baby!"
