John Kent Egan December 25, 1951 - July 13, 2026 Bountiful, Utah John Kent Egan devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, car business owner, and all around friend to everyone, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on July 13, 2026 at the age of 74. He was working at his cabin in Farmington Canyon preparing for more family time and added precious memories.

Born on December 25, 1951, at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. He was his family’s best Christmas present. He was the third child of Major Carl Hatch Egan and Aulene Marie Cushing Egan. His siblings are Alan Egan (deceased) and Linda Egan Mangel (Steve).

John was an outgoing, highly social character who enjoyed very much growing up on Center Street in Bountiful, Utah. He started working at Carl’s Fine Cars/Egan’s Lifetime Automotive for his father during Junior High and eventually spent over 50 years working there. He graduated from Bountiful High School where he was a Senior Student BodyOfficer and a Yell Leader supporting the Cheerleaders.

After High School he joined the U.S. Air Force, following in his father’s footsteps. He received a medical discharge early in his service. He attended Dixie College in St. George, Utah and later served an extended mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Vermont, USA and Newfoundland, Canada.

After his mission, he came home and met the love of his life Patrecia Anne Clayton in his home LDS Ward. They were married on February 1, 1975 and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on January 13, 1976 and enjoyed 45 years of marriage. They were blessed with 9 children, one of whom passed away as an infant of SIDS.

John is preceded in death by his parents, brother, wife, son Merritt Cushing Egan, and grandson Jack Carl West. He is survived by his sister Linda Mangel (Steve) their family, his children, Elicia Flynn, Cecily Busby (Nick), Nickole Schwabe (Lenny), Ashley West (John), James Egan (Cat), Sean Egan (Ashley), Celeste Denson (Brigham), Victoria Egan (Gavin), his grandchildren Aurieanna Howell (Nate), Gavin Flynn, Keira Flynn, Helaina Flynn, Alora Galloway, Carl Galloway, Mira West, Ada West, Emma West, Ronin West, Seras Egan, Elizabeth Denson, William Denson, Catherine Denson, and Samuel Denson, and his great-grandchildren, Audri Ma’afala and Ozzy Howell.

John served in many different callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day. He also served as a Leader for the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He loved to travel with his beloved wife and family. Some of his favorite hobbies were going anywhere with family, attending car shows, shopping for Lladro, antiques, and paintings, talking on two phones at once, leather and wood working, biking, RC cars, and airplanes, paintball, biking, and photography.

We will so deeply miss his loving smile and warm heart and find comfort in the knowledge that he is with his dear wife and family in heaven.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church located at 640 South 750 East, Bountiful, Utah with a viewing before from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
