March 6, 1945 — April 13, 2026

John Thomas Dewey, 81, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion to family. John was born on March 6, 1945, in Provo, Utah, to Martin Davis and Mary Glassett. He grew up with strong values that would guide him throughout his life. While proudly serving in the military, he met the love of his life, Dolores Lawrence. They got married on November 29, 1969. Together, they built a beautiful life, eventually settling in Texas, where they raised their four children: Jason, Todd(Kiersten), Kerri(Eric), and Brittany(Douglas).

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He found his greatest joy in watching his family grow and thrive, and he cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren(Natascha, Jared,Rieley,Morgan,Leyton,Boston, Devyn, Hudson, Nixon, and Jetson), and great-grandchildren(Mila, Ashtyn, Oaklyn,Joseph, and Lainey).

A man of deep faith, John loved his Savior and the gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His favorite hymn, “I Believe in Christ,” was more than just a song to him, it was a way of life. He strived each day to live by its message, and his quiet strength and testimony touched the lives of all who knew him. John had a passion for the outdoors and simple pleasures in life. He loved football, fishing, and hunting, but above all, he loved being surrounded by his family. He was known for his warm smile, infectious laugh, and wonderful sense of humor, qualities that brought light and comfort to those around him.

John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy of faith, love, and laughter will live on in the hearts of his family forever.
