Johnny, as we knew him growing up, was a kind and good friend to all of us. There were over 20 of our group that was all about the same age. We went on so many outings together. I remember visiting him, at his home in NSL, and his parents were such wonderful people to be around. There was positivity and encouragement, and I loved their "accents". I remember the Scouting trips, the school events; and always considered John to be a friend. It is difficult to hear of his passing and the struggle with a Brain Tumor. May the Lord bless your family and help each of you through this difficult and trying time. We will see you again, as this life is but a small journey on the path towards eternity.

I grew up in the same neighborhood as John did. His mom and dad were friends of my parents. Johnny (as known back then) was always upbeat, willing to have fun, and was just and all around great guy. He is the kind of person that made everyone better. I am saddened and shocked that he passed away. Words cannot express my sorrow. I'll see you on the other side my friend. Until then, all of us are blessed to have an angel such as John watching over us.

Memories are flowing through my mind, our high school experiences playing football, the good and the bad, our children experiencing basketball and football.. the good, and the bad. Life's circle so evident and precious. I will miss the bleacher conversations, John's tremendous sense of humor, his comforting grin. He was a kind and good man, a peacemaker. His presence will be missed, his spirit will live forever, etched into each of our minds. Rest in peace dear friend, until we meet again.

Kim & Family: Words cannot express the sadness I feel to hear that John has taken his last journey. We work together on many different programs through the years. John was one of the best to work with. The world has lost a shining star. I will keep your family in my thought & prayers. RIP my friend.

I can't remember a time when Johnny wasn't a part of my life. As a younger kid in the neighborhood, I looked up to John and admired his larger than life laugh, sharp wit and intrepid sense of adventure. He was kind and gentle to everyone and made me feel like a million dollars when I was around him. John will be terribly missed and forever revered.

As I contemplated the life of John Van Weezep, as I know him, I realized that much of the successes I have attained to in my career as a software engineer are attributable to him... 1) He was very instrumental in me being able to get a security clearance so that I could be involved in classified discussions concerning the projects I work on. 2) He included me in decisions related to software engineering aspects of projects and trusted my views. 3) He was always kind to me and everyone else. His kindness extended to everyone from customer representatives to a software engineer working on one of his projects. 4) Most important of all, he always expressed sincere gratitude for the efforts that I (and others) have made to provide goods and services to our customers that help keep our country safe. John's no-nonsense and positive approach to problem solving will always be appreciated by me.
