Joanna Berg, age 47, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2025.
She was born on March 20, 1978, in Layton, Utah, to Gerald R. and Gloria Berg. She attended schools in Layton and graduated from Layton High School in 1996. Joanna continued her education and earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Weber State University.
Joanna was married to her best friend, Jonas Reeder, on August 22, 1998 (later divorced). Together, they actively served their community. Joanna was a member of the Eastern Star Beth Arabah, Chapter 24, and served as the music officer. She was always there to support the lodge charity events like the “spring fling” for the Girls and Boys Club and Sub for Santa. She liked working with and became friends with many Masonic widows. She continued that service as a volunteer at St. Rose and cherished teaching bible classes to the children. She had a special compassion for all God’s creatures and volunteered at the Wildlife Bird Rehabilitation Center.
Joanna is survived by her mother Gloria Berg of Latyon, father Gerald (Beth) Berg of Lehi, her former husband Jonas Reeder, sister Andrea (Mark) Plumley, sister Rachel (Paul) Ingleston, sister Jeralyn (Brandon) Miller, sister-in-law Rebeckah Berg, numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately called her Aunt Pookie, and kind friends Jerry Everett and Brian Nation. She is preceded in death by her brother James Berg and her feather and fur babies.
We like to remember Joanna for her loving, cheerful nature and the kindness she showed to all those she met. She will be remembered for her service work as well as the caring commitment she showed to her clients during her employment at Davis Behavioral Health.
Joanna had many passions in life, including her Kenpo Martial Arts training and teaching, creating beautiful beadwork that she often gifted to family and friends, rock hounding at Topaz Mountain, and her natural talent for taking care of numerous critters. She is now having a happy reunion with her beloved pets. Joanna was devout in her faith and treasured her experiences as she traveled and visited many religious sites.
Joanna will be missed by those who truly knew her and loved her. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. She will be interred at Pony Express Memorial Cemetery in Eagle Mountain, Utah.
