Some people are remembered for the things they accomplished. Jesse Reed VanNoy will be remembered for the way he made people feel. He had a gift for making others laugh, an infectious smile, and a sparkle in his eye that almost always meant he was about to pull a prank. Life was simply more fun when Jesse was around.
Jesse passed away on July 12, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 46. Born on January 29, 1980, in Bountiful, Utah, he grew up with a playful spirit that never left him. He graduated from Woods Cross High School and later worked for Sherwin-Williams, where he was known for his hard work and easygoing personality.
If you knew Jesse, you knew he loved to cook. His kitchen was one of his favorite places, and nowhere did he shine brighter than when he was making his famous salsa. Family and friends proudly crowned him "The Salsa King," a title he embraced with a grin. He loved feeding the people he cared about.
Jesse also found joy in serving others. He volunteered with the Bountiful Davis Art Center Summerfest and at Unity Spiritual Center, where he coordinated and set up the sound system for countless events. He rarely sought recognition; he simply enjoyed helping.
He was endlessly curious. Jesse could spend hours discussing the paranormal, debating conspiracy theories, or introducing someone to a new song from his enormous music collection. His love of music crossed every genre, and he had an uncanny ability to identify almost any artist within seconds.
More than anything, Jesse treasured time spent with the people he loved. His friendship with Nick was one of the greatest blessings in his life. Together they shared countless nights playing games, singing karaoke at the top of their lungs, sitting around a campfire talking for hours, and laughing until it hurt. Those simple moments became some of Jesse's happiest memories. He also loved escaping to Aunt Terri and Unca Bull's property, where he always felt at home, and he often reminisced about a treasured family trip to Hawaii with Grandma Roene. Whether it was sharing street tacos, discovering new music, or simply being surrounded by family and friends, Jesse found joy in life's simple moments.
His greatest legacy, however, wasn't his salsa, his stories, or even his legendary pranks. It was the joy he left behind. Jesse had a remarkable ability to brighten a room, lift someone's spirits, and remind everyone not to take life too seriously. Those who loved him will forever hear his unmistakable laugh, remember the mischievous sparkle in his eyes, and wonder if he somehow managed to get the last laugh one more time.
Jesse was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Reed VanNoy; his brother-in-law, Tim Case; his grandparents; a beloved niece and nephew; and several cherished aunts and uncles.
He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply: his mother, Linda Parrish VanNoy; his sister, Leslie VanNoy Case; his brother, Tyson (Andrea) VanNoy; his nephews, Kodyn and Gavyn; his nieces, Ember, Irie, and Kaydence; his Great Auntie Marsha, Aunt Cindy, Aunt Terri and dear friends Nick Durfee, Dan Baddley, Rob Thompson, and Josh Stucker. Along with countless other friends, each carries a piece of Jesse's laughter and love with them.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West in Bountiful, Utah. Family and friends are invited to gather afterward for a light luncheon at Leslie's home, 981 Stonehenge Drive, North Salt Lake, Utah 84054.
