Jess E. Fuller

May 25, 1935 — Aug 31, 2026

Jess E. Fuller Jr., age 91, of Layton, Utah, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on May 25, 1935, in Maryville, Tennessee to Jess E. Fuller Sr. and Nina Belle Dale Fuller. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War. Jess went on to pursue a career as an iron worker with local Union 27 for 30 years. Among others, Jess worked on many bridges and buildings in Salt Lake including the Delta Center, Kennecott Smokestack, Church Office Building and Intermountain Power Plant. He traveled all over the country as an Iron Worker where he worked on 3-mile Island and many school buildings. Jess would often say his fingerprints were on a building or bridge as he would pass by.

Jess was married to Madge Elizabeth Gibson Fuller from 1961 until her passing in 1993, with whom he shares a son, Chad Fuller (Michele) and stepchildren Laurin DeRosier, Bob DeRosier, Cherie DeRosier, Donald DeRosier, Renee DeRosier and Terry DeRosier. Jess was blessed with a second chance at love when he married Carma Quist Hart Fuller in 1997 to present.

Jess was an avid car enthusiast, he loved fishing and gardening and always made sure everyone was well fed, a trait he likely got from his beloved Mom Nina. He loved sharing produce from his garden and eggs from his chickens. He also enjoyed annual trips to Yuma, Arizona and family reunions in Tennessee. Under his tough exterior was a kind and charitable heart who was always willing to help someone in need.

Jess is survived by his spouse, Carma; his son Chad Fuller (Michele) stepchildren, Marina Hart Gines, Savannah Hart Christensen (Kevin), 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, and siblings, Mary Nell Fuller Railo (Bill), Becky Fuller Christensen (Brent). He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess Fuller Sr., Nina Belle Dale (Fuller), his infant sister Ruby Alice Fuller and his sister Emma Grace Fuller Emmett and his first wife Madge Elizabeth Gibson Fuller.

A private viewing for family and close friends will precede the graveside service at Russon Mortuary 295 N. Main Street Bountiful, Utah 84010 on September 8, 2026 from 11:00am-11:30 am. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 pm at Valley View Memorial Park 4335 West 4100 South West Valley City, Utah 84120.

Jess never liked long goodbyes. In honor of his favorite, familiar words, our family smiles knowing that he has just "gone to feed the chickens". He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. The family wishes to extend their deepest and heartfelt gratitude to Renew Home Health and Hospice, for their compassionate and loving care, every person that assisted Jess and our family through this difficult time are truly angels on earth.
