Jerry (Gerald Mahlon) O’Brien peacefully passed away on February 9, 2026. He was born on February 12, 1930, to Afton Leroy (Bill) and Ruby Amanda O’Brien in Lewiston, Utah. He married Joyce Allen (1932-1959) in 1957 and Dorothy Bown (1936-2012) in 1960.

Jerry attended Davis High where he was active in track, football, and basketball. He also attended the University of Utah where he earned a B.S. degree and later earned an MBA from BYU.

Jerry joined the U.S. Marine Corps serving on the Heavy Cruiser U.S.S. Rochester. He worked as a purchasing agent at the University of Utah and Lakeview Hospital. He was a Department Manager at the Utah State Prison, and worked in Real Estate.

He was a devoted, kind, and loving father to Todd (Nancy), Jill (Robin), and John. He cherished his 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Jerry loved golfing, fishing, camping, football, and basketball but most of all he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his family.

A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Road, Kaysville, Utah.
