Jenny Ruth Smith

June 19, 1979 — February 3, 2026

Jenny Ruth Smith is a celestial spirit and our brightest smile! We remember her as the biggest bear-hug giving; Winnie the Pooh loving; purse, wallet, and quarter hoarder; handwritten note and card collector; puzzle loving; persistent phone and FaceTime caller and best buddy you could ever have.

An angel on earth, Jenny left this mortal experience peacefully on February 3, 2026, as the result of a grand mal seizure. She was surrounded by the unbreakable devotion of her parents and her two amazing sisters. Their unwavering love carried her through her final breath.

Jenny began her mortal adventure on June 19, 1979, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born to Bill and Kathy Smith, she was the first of three beautiful daughters. From the moment she arrived, Jenny was always known as happy, loving, and full of light. Jenny led her life as an example to others… never an unkind word about anyone, never a complaint, and always a determined spirit.

Jenny never met a stranger. If ever a new person crossed her path, she immediately wanted to know their name, give them her signature bear-hug, and they became her newest best friend. Jenny's love is unconditional and knows no bounds.

Jenny is survived by her loving and devoted parents, Bill and Kathy Smith; her two best sisters Michelle (Chris) Robinson and their five children Baylie, Michael, Porter, Kendall, and Elsie; Stacey (Mark) McGowan and their five children Brooklyn, Carter, Cole, William, and Bennett; and her extended family and friends, too numerous to name but whom she would have wanted named individually here. Jenny's family and friends were the absolute highlight of her life and brought so much sunshine to her soul, just as she always did for them. The family rejoices to think of her sweet heavenly reunion with those who have preceded her, Grandma Max and Grandpa Bud; Granny and Grandpa B.

A viewing for family and friends will be held Sunday, February 8, 6-8 pm, at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, Utah. A second viewing will be held Monday, February 9, 9:30-10:30 am, at the Rowland Way Chapel, 610 N. Rowland Way, Centerville, Utah. Funeral services will follow Monday, at 11:00 am, at the Rowland Way Chapel. Interment will be at the Centerville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints humanitarian fund. Jenny loved tearing and folding fabric strips for the rag rugs that are sent to Africa.
