Jeffrey Alton Griffin

August 29, 1982 — April 17, 2024

Our dearest father, son and brother finished his earthly mission on Wednesday April 17, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with mental illness.  Jeffrey was born on August 29, 1982, in Bountiful Utah to his parents David & Joye Griffin.  He was the father of four beautiful children Lydia, Savannah, Parker, and Liam, whom he adored.

Jeff grew up in Farmington and attended Farmington Elementary, Farmington Jr. High and Viewmont High School where he graduated in 2000.  He loved learning and had a curious mind and a quick sense of humor.   Growing up he spent many enjoyable hours with friends playing baseball, basketball, camping with the young men, swimming with cousins in St. George and boating at Lake Powell.  He swam and played water polo on the Viewmont high swim team.

Jeff served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bahia Blanca Argentina where he enjoyed serving and teaching the people he grew to love.   After his mission he married Taralyn Allen on March 12, 2005.  He attended and graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in economics.

His professional career was spent in the family business, Griffin 5 Holdings, where he detailed cars and changed oil as a teenager.  As the business grew and he graduated from college he continued working there, moving into the management of multiple locations in three states.  He enjoyed meeting new people, organizing meetings, digesting spreadsheets and being with many beloved employees. He and his brothers shared a strong bond and loved working together. He was currently serving on the Senior Executive Board.

He was an active member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings most recently in the Elder’s Quorum Presidency.  He loved to teach, serve, and influence others.  Jeff had an amazing ability to make everyone feel welcome, and all the cousins loved him because he made them laugh.

Jeff’s greatest joy was his children and spending time with them on the ski slopes, surfing behind the boat, traveling many places, and teaching them Spanish.  They loved to have work dates and projects of all kinds.   He enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays and making them special as a labor of love.  He loved to tickle, tease, and snuggle them.  They spent many happy hours in the outdoors with each other. He was very proud of them and their achievements.

Jeffrey is survived by his children, Lydia, Savannah, Parker & Liam, parents Dave and Joye, brothers DJ (Kelly) and John (Lindsay), grandparents, Sterling Jardine, and Annette Jardine, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Alton and Lue Dean Griffin.
