Jean Young Dorton Spere, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully December 8, 2008. Jean was born on March 28, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Virgil J and Constance Young Dorton. She was great-great-granddaughter of Brigham Young and took great pride in her pioneer heritage. After her father graduated from Dental College, the family moved back to Utah. She was raised in a loving family and graduated from East High School. She enlisted in the Women’s Army Corp during WWII and earned the rank of sergeant while serving in JAG as a secretary in new Guinea until the end of the war. She married her loving companion William I. Spere in 1946. Jean served in her school , the LDS Church in various callings such as Primary President, extraction and temple worker. She is survived by her children, Bill Tricia Spere, Connie Brown, daughter-in-law Kim Spere; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Hope Stevens. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Steve; son-in-law, Larry; and brother Richard Dorton. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main where friends and family may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Salt Lake City Cemetery.
