Janet Wadsworth Handy Wilkinson

December 28, 1952 — January 2, 2024

Bountiful, UT

Janet returned home to her loving Heavenly Father, Savior Jesus Christ, family, and friends on January 2, 2024.  She lived a life full of faith, prayer, and hard work.  Rarely did she question the Lord about the life she was given.  She was truly a beautiful miracle.  Mom dealt with Epilepsy, falls, tremors, and Dementia and never questioned the Lord about it.

Janet was born on December 28, 1952, in Salt Lake Utah.  She was the 4th child of Grant Aveson and Reva Elaine Wadsworth. She was a cute baby full of life. and very observant to her surroundings.  At the age of 18 months Janet was in a car accident which left her suffering from significant head trauma, later causing seizures. She was blessed to have a normal and full life.

She was a typical child enjoying the wonderful life was blessed with.  She was a normal teenager, excited to be getting her driver’s license, and graduated from Viewmont High in 1971.  She went on a trip to Jerusalem, Israel with her mother. She married William Handy in 1974-1983. She is blessed with her wonderful children Shannette, Matthew, and Michelle.  She first attended BYU and later received a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Utah State University.

She married Steve Wilkinson in 1996-2001. She loved her step kids as her own and would check up on them.

She loved to be independent and living on her own was such a joy to her.  She owned her own home.  She loved attending the temple, reading the newspaper, watching the news, doing extraction/genealogy work, and making sure she and her family had food storage. She saved her money. She was a hard worker and a woman of faith and prayer.  She told you what she thought and would do her best to understand your opinion.  She loved to vote and talked about who was running in the next election.  She was modest and would fret if you gave her something she felt she needed.  She loved being a visiting teacher.  Her feet were her wheels, and she would walk in the morning and evening, also to and from work.  She was a wiz at memorizing and could recite” Horton Hatches an Egg”, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and the poem “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego” to her children and grandchildren. She loved to go to the Nutcracker Ballet with her family and to listen to the Beatles. She enjoyed her trips to Island Park, Minnesota, Jerusalem, Alabama, Arizona, Idaho and around Utah.  She loved visiting with family and friends and would make sure she had your number so she could call you to visit with her. She wanted things done her way and had to be early/on time to everything.  She hated to be late!  She was an example to all in so many ways and will be sorely missed!

She died on January 2, 2024, at the Sandstone Care Center.  She is now free from all her aliments and having a great family reunion in heaven!

She is preceded in death by Grant Wadsworth (Father), Reva Wadsworth (Mother), Mark Wadsworth (Brother), Frank Wadsworth (Brother), Jeffery Noorda (Brother-in-Law), Jonathan Hoxsie (nephew), and Christopher Bell (nephew).
