1960 Jim 2024

James Timothy Simpson

January 14, 1960 — February 2, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of James Timothy Simpson, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, friend, and neighbor. Surrounded by his loving family, Jim left this world on February 2, 2024 after suffering medical complications.
Jim was born on January 14, 1960 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard Gene Simpson and Connie Irene Osborn Simpson. Born fourth in the line of six children, Jim was the spirited wild child of the bunch. His mother reveled in the retelling of many stories of the antics Jamie created as a child and teenager like being kidnapped by the teenagers. Tim was an avid hunter and enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with his father, brothers, and friends.
On September 11, 1981 Jim married the love of his life and best friend Anitta Blotter. They later divorced but remained best friends and each other’s forever love until the very end. Together they had 2 beautiful daughters, Raquel and Ariel. Jim loved his daughters and his 3 grandchildren so much and would do anything to see them smile and help them with any task that arose.
Jim’s early years included attending Centerville Jr. High and Viewmont High School. In 1977 Jim joined the United States Army for 4 years and served in Korea. Then in 1981 Jim joined the United States Air Force in the Reserves where he remained for the next 34 years until he retired in 2015 as a Master Sargent. He loved his job and serving our country. He met many people and made many lifelong friendships along the way.
Beyond his many military accomplishments and achievements, Jim found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed taking his family on many road trips and camping adventures while subjecting them to listen to oldie’s country the entire time. He loved taking his daughter Ariel to all her rodeo events all over Utah and later to all his grandson Paxton’s 4-H events. Jim was a huge animal lover through and through. He loved all his many dogs and horses but especially his golden retriever Sam. Jim was always seen driving Big Red with his Sammy boy riding shotgun.
Jim was a talented mechanic and would go out of his way to help anyone who needed work done on any car or machine for the simple price of a pack of his favorite beer  - Budweiser. He loved the challenge of fixing things and learning new mechanics and was often seen wearing his coveralls and cowboy boots. Jim loved all his family and friends dearly. He valued every friendship he had and will be missed by all those that knew him.
Jim is survived by his beloved ex-wife Anitta Simpson of West Bountiful, Utah and their daughters Raquel and Ariel and grandchildren Paxton, Paislee and Marley, brothers John (Anna) and Peter and sister Amy (Rob). Jim is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Connie, brothers David and Mark and nephews Joshua and T.J.
A special thank you to the ICU team at Lakeview Hospital for their care, concern, and comfort they provided, especially Kyle, for helping Jim and his family feel comforted during this difficult time.
