James Randell Witten (Randy), age 71 was suddenly taken from us on May 30th, 2026. He was murdered by person(s) unknown, in West Point Utah.

Randy was born October 17, 1954, in Kansas City, Jackson Missouri to James and Lydia Witten, who proceeded him in death. He is survived by his wife Maria, Children; Jamie Nicole Witten (Chris Quick) Steve (Jen) and Angie Barchus and Stephen Phelan (Betlyn). Sibling; Jen Chandler (Bryan), Lori Land, Janet Land, Donnell Groves, Bobby Procter (Sarah), Chip Freeman, Brandon Freeman and Richard Wheeler. His Granddaugther(s) Katilyn Phelan, Sierra (Corea) Tells, great granddaughters Kyana & Thalia Telles and his grandson Jody Sanchez. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by his parents, sister Vicky O’Connell, brothers Daniel, David, Richard and Michael.

Randy was a 20-year Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during Vietnam, Desert Storm and Granada. He served in Germany, Sicily, McConnell AFB Wichita Kansas; Bullis AFB San Antonio Texas; Lackland AFB San Antonio Texas, Dyess AFB Abilene Texas. He retired as an E-7 MSgt. And his career included Security and First Sergeant Duties. His Military decorations include; Meritorious Service Medal; AF Commendation Medal with one device; AF outstanding Unit Award with two devices; AF Organizational Excellence Award with one device; AF Good Conduct Medal with five devices; National Defense Service Medal with one device; NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon with two devices; Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon with one device; and AF Training Ribbon.

Randy’s education included several leadership and technical courses in the Air Force. He receives his GED, while a resident of Weber Basin Job Corp, his Associates, Bachelor’s degree in criminology and his Master’s in management. Randy loved to learn and would have been a full-time student if he could have.

His hobbies included hiking, biking, camping, serving his community, writing short stories and exploring the countryside in his RV. He loved to visit different Temples across the United States. He especially enjoyed camping and exploring with a group of neighbors, who challenged him to new adventures.

He was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on September 25, 2021 and was sealed to his wife on January 17, 2023.

Randy was blessed and was a kind, caring individual who will be missed.
