James William Nielsen peacefully passed away on June 10, 2024, in Farmington, Utah, at the age of 87. Jim was born on July 31, 1936, in Mount Pleasant, Utah, to James Lewis and Ruth Madsen Nielsen. He married his sweetheart Nadeane Louise Tuft on November 24, 1965, in the Salt Lake Temple. In West Bountiful, Utah, they created a home with lots of laughter and love.
Together with Nadeane, they raised Laurie, Melanie, Sheri, and Holly. They supported their daughters in their faith, talents, interests, and academic pursuits.

He held many positions within the church but spent most of his life as a ward or stake clerk. Later in life, he worked as a missionary at the Church History Library and as an employment specialist. He loved sharing the gospel with all he met.
Jim was an accomplished musician. He played the French horn with various orchestras and the Utah National Guard Band for over 20 years. He was an elementary music teacher in the Salt Lake School District.
Jim is survived by his sister Carol (Niel), his brother Allen (Artie), his children Laurie (Bradford), Melanie (Craig), Sheri (Trevor), and Holly (Sterling), 18 grandchildren, 3 grandchildren-in-law, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadeane.
The Nielsen Family is deeply grateful to the staff at Legacy House of Park Lane and Inspiration Hospice. They showed loving kindness to Jim right until the end.
