James Edward Mabey (Jim)

November 11, 1942 – March 26, 2019

Jim passed away in his home from complications of diabetes on March 26th at the age of 76. He was born in San Francisco, CA, to Edward and Edrice Mabey, and grew up in Bountiful, UT.  In 1963 Jim married Susan Walton they remained married for 55 years.

Jim spent the most ambitious years of his life doing the things he loved most – flying his plane, serving in the National Guard, and supporting his family as an insurance salesman, where he won the praise of his coworkers as top salesman for 10 years in a row.  He raised his children to fish, hunt, race, fly, and build, never failing to nurture a hands-on approach to fatherhood, brotherhood, and family. He left his mark on the people around him and on the places he loved, from Moab to Silverton, Alaska to Mexico, and especially in the place where he made his home: Bountiful, Utah. Jim will be greatly missed by the lives he shaped and the generations he left behind.

Jim is survived by: His wife, Susan; his children Wende (John), Charlie, and Jimmy (Kaycee); his grandson Scotty; his three sisters Afton, Charlynn (Richard) and Amanda (Ryan); six grandkids and six great-grandkids.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30th at 1pm, Russon Mortuary, 295 No. Main St. Bountiful Ut, 84010, where friends and family may visit from 11:45am-12:45pm.

Family wishes to thank South Davis Hospice for their care.
