Irene Johnson Parkhurst, 79 years young from Kaysville, Utah died 5-26-21 from Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Our beloved mother (aka. Red-reenie, Big Red, the go-to sister, G’ma buddy) was loved by so many and will be greatly missed!
Mom was convinced she was going to live to be 112. She killed any bug that crossed her path, no matter how scary it was. She would go to any length to be there for one of her kids or grandkids… Even dress up as a fairy godmother…..Big Red was also very competitive. She loved games and would always be the first to be on board for any game. There are so many wonderful memories we will cherish of her drive and her ambition.
Mother had a very strong testimony of the gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a profound love for her Christ and Savior the Lord Jesus Christ.
Irene worked as a postal carrier for many years while working on her master’s degree in social work. Her greatest passion was family counseling, adoptions, and grief work. Mom helped so many people. We called her a people collector…She felt it was her mission to serve others and found every opportunity she could to use her talents for good.
She was met on the other side by her parents, some siblings and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Joseph Wells. Sisters: Nancy, Ruth, Nola and Verlyn. Children: Ray & Lucy, Danny & Lucy, Carol, Greg, Wendy & Scott, Rusti & Brent, Brooke & Lance. Stepchildren: Mike & Liz, Holly & Jason, Lisa & Shawn, Nikki & Kurt, Melissa & Daniel, Danny & Rachel, Crissy & Robert, Mindy & Sam, Jared Grandchildren & Great grandchildren: Too many to count!
Matthew 25:21 “Well done, good and faithful servant”
We love you mom.
