Ilene Fern Hogge Singley

January 28, 1941 — June 18, 2025

On Wednesday, June 18, our beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Ilene Fern Hogge Singley (84) peacefully passed away and returned home to be with her husband, Lynn Ray Singley, after 31 years of being apart.

Ilene was born on January 28, 1941, in Bountiful, UT. She was born to Vida Fern Yates Hogge and Robert Hogge Sr. and was the eldest of three children. As a child she attended the famous Stoker Elementary, where she walked to school in five feet of snow, uphill both ways. She graduated from Bountiful High School in 1959. She also attended the University of Utah for a time.

Ilene married her sweetheart, Lynn, in the Salt Lake City LDS temple on May 1, 1964. She gave life to five sons, Jeffery Lynn, Clay Robert, Tyler Ray, Paul William, and Michael David. Although she claims these boys magically turned her hair gray overnight, she was fiercely protective of them. Her sons were her best friends. Apart from her boys, she leaves behind a legacy of eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ilene moved around with her husband's business ventures. From Utah, to California, to Arizona, and finally back to Utah to put down roots in Farmington. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and blessed the lives of so many through the callings she held. During her time in Farmington, she was called to several positions in the church, but no calling did she love as much as being the Young Women's president. Having had only sons, she looked at these girls as her own daughters. She loved them and she fought for them. She protected them the way a mother would. When it came time to be released from this position, the girls started planning to stage a formal protest. Thankfully, she was able to talk them off the ledge.

Ilene's presence was infectious. You couldn't help but be affected by her sassy, cutting honesty. But at the same time, she was gentle, patient and kind. She called out those who criticized others, and stood up for those who couldn't defend themselves. Despite the many significant trials she experienced in life including losing her husband and parents within 15 months and numerous health challenges, she continued to emulate Christ by looking outward and serving others. Everyone who knew her loved her. She will be so deeply missed.

Ilene is survived by her sons Jeffrey, Clay, Tyler (Heather), Paul (Cibely) and Michael (Kristy); eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister Barbara (Wally) Petersen and Robert (Julie) Hogge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn, and parents, Robert and Vida.

We are so thankful to the many friends she had that blessed her life as well as the lives of her family. We are especially grateful to the staff at The Beaumont Assisted Living who loved and served her over the past two years. She was so grateful for you!
