Howard Allan Troop

Jul 21, 1940 — Aug 3, 2026

Bountiful, UT

Howard Allan Troop, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, completed his mortal mission on 3 August 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born 21 July 1940 to Paul Issac and Erma Sarah Martin Troop.

His childhood was spent with family in the city of Murray, Utah, which he loved.

After graduating from Murray High in 1958, he was privileged to serve as an LDS Missionary to the Eastern Atlantic States for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This mission began his many years of service for the church he loved.

After his mission, he met his sweetheart and eternal companion, Ann Jackson Troop (a proud BYU graduate). They were married on 29 June 1964 in the Salt Lake Temple. In the 62 years of marriage, they were blessed with 7 children. Shortly after they were married, he joined the Utah National Guard and retired in 2000 as a Lt Colonel. His love for God, family and country ran deep.

Allan was a proud graduate of the University of Utah, “Go Utes!” He also received his master’s degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

He worked in the insurance industry as an underwriter and ended his career as an F-16 Specialist at Hill Air Force Base, which deepened his love for country.

He served in many callings, including Gospel Doctrine teacher, Bishop’s Counselor, Executive Secretary, and Scout Leader, which is a calling he adored. After retirement, he and Ann served at LDS Business College (Ensign) where he loved those who he served and worked with. For many years he served as a tour guide on Temple Square and then served in the Salt Lake Temple until the Bountiful Temple opened where he served until his physical body could serve no more.

He is survived by wife, Ann and 5 of his 7 children: Caroline Davis, Mary (Jed) Neilson, Lynnae (Chris) Bouwhuis, Brad (KaDee) Troop, and Steve (Karie) Troop. He was also blessed with 25 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren who love “Gramps” and will miss him greatly.

Preceded in death by his parents, Ann’s parents (Amos and Helen Jackson), brother (Tom), daughter Alisa (William) Kay, son David (Sandra) Troop, son-in-law Kent Davis, and grandson Isaac Troop.

What a great reunion!
