Emblem

Our loving husband, father and grandfather Hal B Rigby peacefully passed away on September 27, 2023, one week after celebrating his 86th birthday.  Hal was born September 20, 1937, in Layton, Utah to Alfred Wright Rigby and Lucille Bone Rigby. The family later moved to Kaysville where Hal attended Kaysville Elementary and North Davis Jr. High, then graduated from Davis High School in 1955. Hal grew up learning the importance of hard work, of serving others and helping family members.  He was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

After graduating from high school, Hal worked at Hill Air Force Base and attended Weber College.  Hal later attended Brigham Young University where he studied Business Management.  After graduation, Hal enlisted in the U. S. Air Force.  During Christmas leave in 1964, Hal met the love of his life, Lucille Clark, on a blind date.  They were married June 22, 1966, in the Salt Lake City Temple.  Together, they moved to Texas where Hal earned a Masters of Business Administration from Texas A&M.

After graduate school, Hal’s Air Force career took the family to Texas, Ohio, Virginia, Italy and Illinois.  After 20 years in the Air Force, Hal and Lucille moved back home to Utah to be close to family.  There, Hal began his second career with the Utah Department of Corrections, where he worked another 20 years before retiring in 2003.  Hal often joked his favorite career was retirement where “every day is a Saturday.”

Hal had a passion for photography, painting, gardening, reading, watching movies, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda Bergk.  He leaves behind his wife, Lucille; son, Rohn (Andrea), son, Rich (Jessica), daughter, Kimberly (Manny); grandchildren, Porter (Hadlee), Bailey, Davis, Adison (Mason), Joseph (Mckaydee), Spencer, Parker, Scott, Ella and Claire.

The family would like to thank the staff at Whisper Cove and Atlas Hospice for their tender and thoughtful care during Hal’s final days.  Their loving care will not be forgotten.
