Grant C. LeFevre

March 26, 1944 — June 25, 2025

Bountiful, UT

Grant C. LeFevre was born on March 26, 1944, to Ozro Grant and Dellis Sudweeks LeFevre in Panguitch, Utah. As a very young boy, he went everywhere with his Dad. He learned the value of hard work and earned the moniker of “Little Oz.” He roamed the hills and played with his friends in Panguitch Valley. He swam in creeks and ponds and hunted rabbits. His best friend once suffered a serious accident and Grant was able to save his life. His mother let him start driving when he was 13 years old so he could get to their property to milk the cows every day. He graduated from Panguitch High School in 1962. As a young adult, he met Darlene Pollock of Tropic, Utah and shortly thereafter followed her to Salt Lake City. They were married on April 24, 1965, and were sealed in the St. George LDS temple for time and all eternity on July 2, 1966. They were sweethearts and partners during their 60 years together, raising 4 children, scouting, serving in the temple and spending time outdoors.

He lived a life of service, working at the Salt Lake Print Center for 41 years as a printer, supervisor and trainer. The employees he supervised honored him with the prestigious Pressman’s Choice Award. He was a Scout leader for more than 50 years, serving hundreds of boys as Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Scouting Committee member, Merit Badge Counselor and was awarded the honor of Silver Beaver in 2014. He was always the first to volunteer his time and skills to bless the lives of all he knew. He later served a 12-year mission at the Print Center with Darlene, giving tours, teaching and sharing his passion for printing.

He could solve any problem, sometimes through trial and error with great patience and perseverance. Grant could fix or make anything that was needed. He was a jack of all trades and also a master of all that came his way. Over the last several years, he and Darlene built a second home in Panguitch. Using all the skills he spent his life developing, his time, muscle, as well as that of his children and grandchildren, taking this opportunity to mentor his loved ones.

Grant shared his love of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren, teaching them how to fish and hunt, and cook the meat into delicious meals. He was a dutch-oven chef and spoiled his family by creating great meals during our family camping trips. Grant was not just a good camper and fire builder but also a lot of fun! He was always willing to go along with Darlene’s crazy plans, play games or dress up in silly costumes and help his grand-kids create and perform skits or home movies. He had a playful sense of humor, always saying funny and surprising things, creating many unforgettable moments.

Grant was an artist and created masterpieces of wood and paint. He has crafted hand-made ornaments for each of his grandchildren every Christmas for more than a decade. He also carved detailed neckerchief slides for each of the dozens of recipients of the Arrow of Light award his troop produced. After retirement, he joined a group of carvers and wood-workers who met regularly to share skills and inspiration. He was blessed by the camaraderie and friendship he found there.

Darlene wishes to express her appreciation and love to Grant and has felt blessed in every way by his love and patience and service to her. He worked every day up until his final day to make all her wishes and dreams come true. His greatest desire was to make sure his children had all the opportunities for education and the blessings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was the very picture of a good and honest man. His courage and faith in a loving God allowed him the miracle of staying on this Earth for 81 years, despite many health challenges. In 2017, he was diagnosed with stage 4 liver failure. After significant medical treatment, he was able to spend the time he had left doing family history and as soon as the temples opened back up after the pandemic, he and Darlene spent as much time as they could working in the temple to make saving ordinances available to their ancestors. He worked up until the day he died. He wore out his life in the service of his God, his family and his fellow man. On June 25, 2025, he was welcomed home: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

Grant was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Velma, Myrna, Doris & Reba, daughter-in-law, Kaylyn Randall LeFevre, and grandsons, Braedyn Braff and Wesley Beadle. He is survived by his wife, Darlene LeFevre, his brother, Claud (Juanita) LeFevre, his children, Monica LeFevre-Braff, Michael (Lorinda) LeFevre, Mark LeFevre, Marla (Roland) Frenzel, 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Grant’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the loving and compassionate care provided by the healthcare team at St. George Regional Hospital.
