Gordon Lee Shaw 'graduated' this life peacefully on October 10, 2025 and joined his “Little Honey” on the other side. As promised, he did not pack a bag, just eagerly went when his name was called.
He was known for his humor, warmth and hospitality, his ability to feed 2 to 200 at short notice, a contagious smile that could light up a room, and always being ready with a good joke or silly story.
Gordon lived a life of service, which he learned from an early age by the examples of his father and grandfather. He worked hard and was always eager to learn as much as he could. He was a fountain of knowledge and a keeper of history, and was quick to recall stories from family history that had been passed on to him.
Gordon served this country that he loves as a green beret in the Utah Army National Guard Special Forces Group, where jumping out of planes would start his ‘career’ of falling from high places.
Gordon's biggest fall was for his “Little Honey” Carol. They married and built a wonderful life. Together, they raised an amazing family, making a special effort to ensure the holidays, camping trips, time with extended family and home life were special and loving. They loved thier children and grandchildren and always tried to do the best they could for all of them by sharing wisdom, love and advice, and beleived it was important that they make thier own life choices so they too could learn and grow.
Gordon was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in many calling, including Scout leader, teacher, and counselor in the bishopric. He and Carol also served several service missions later in life, one with both his brothers and thier wives. He loved the lord, loved to serve and loved the opportunity to meet new people.
In honor of our father, we leave you with one last parting joke.
While in the hospital, a doctor ran past yelling, "Typhoid! Tetanus! Measles!" "Why is she doing that?" I asked. "Oh, she just likes to call the shots." Another replied.
We love you dad! Thanks for all the laughs, support, love and exemplary lessons you gave us. You're truly a "Superman" in our eyes!
