Gordon Lynn Holbrook

November 10, 1949 — July 2, 2025

Bountiful, UT

Gordon Lynn Holbrook, age 75, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away suddenly at his home on July 2, 2025, after a five-year battle with prostate cancer.

Gordon was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, at LDS Hospital on November 10, 1949, to Dorothea Byrl Hindley and David Junior Holbrook, the youngest of three children.

Gordon found the love of his life, Lynda Renee Samuelsen, at the tender young age of 16. They dated all through high school and one year after graduating from Bountiful High School (1968) when Gordon joined the United States Army Reserve. They married on November 14, 1969, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in September 1978.

Gordon grew up in Bountiful, Utah, where he had a wonderful childhood exploring his surroundings including setting the creek on fire that went through his uncle’s property. Other memories include spending his summers in Mesa, Arizona, working for his Uncle Watts, and hanging out with his dear cousins.

Gordon loved spending time with his family. This included traveling in their travel trailer and then motor home. Vacations included trips to Disneyland, Canada, soccer tournaments, and across the United States several times, including stopping in Louisiana to meet and see the newly drafted Jazz player Karl Malone. Karl was not home, but he met Shirley Malone, his mother, and became lifelong friends. He also traveled several times to Hawaii and Europe. Gordon also loved to meet up for a good meal!

Gordon has always been a hard worker starting his first job at Phillips 66 service station on Highway 89 in Bountiful. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Army Reserve in 1969. He returned home after basic training to start his career at the Phillips 66 Refinery in Woods Cross, Utah, and worked with his mother in the insurance business. His dreams came true in 1981 when he had the opportunity to open his own business, Gordon’s CopyPrint. He continued to work all three jobs and slowly quit each job until he solely worked at Gordon’s. He expanded to two other locations (Layton and Clearfield) and made the Bountiful location larger. He absolutely loved what he did and never fully retired.

Gordon is survived by his wife of 55 years, their children Brandt Holbrook (Gina), Jana Holbrook Eubank (Kevin), Leslee Holbrook Anderton (Chris), and Chase Holbrook; 10 grandchildren; brother David Bernard Holbrook (Angela) and sister Kathleen Holbrook Jones (Ed).

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Raymond Chase Anderton.
