Gordon Gurr Jr.

December 13, 1951 — October 11, 2023

Gordon Gurr Jr. passed away peacefully at home with his daughter Sadie Tomlin by his side on October 11, 2023. He was born December 13, 1951. Gordon Jr., when he came of age, worked at our father’s title company, Security Title Company in Farmington Utah, a company started in the 1940’s.   He worked faithfully at Security Title until dad decided to retire and sold the company.  Gordie was faithful to stay at Security Title until there was enough revenue that the new owner was able to pay the debt to our father.  Continuing with title and escrow Gordie moved to Stewart Title in Layton, Utah, (formerly Bonneville Title) at the pushing of his siblings that already were working for Stewart Title.  He excelled with construction clientele, and construction lenders. He loved working with the builders and achieving the dreams of homeownership for their clients.

Gordie loved his toys, cars, boats, and motorcycles.  He was a perfectionist and didn’t accept failure.  If he lost control and fell while slalom skiing behind a boat, he would insist to go again until he gave up on his own accord.  That same conviction to perfection always manifested in the work he did. Much to the chagrin for whom he worked with, he did not accept anything but perfection. Even more of a joy for Gordie was his love to play 21 at the gambling tables.  He won and lost a fortune, if you ever had the experience to hear his tales.  At some point he would only have to tell the pit boss he was there and automatically have a room comped from the casino for his stay.  The laughter and contemplations of his experiences was contagious.  He had a love of fast cars, owning an astonishing 4 Cadillac XLR’s, he always had to have the latest and greatest.  His strive for perfection is living in us all, as driven into us by our father; although, we may not always be perfect in our fathers eyes.  As we strive to be the best we can be, Gordie gives us the example we can only hope to come close to achieve.

He is survived by two sons and his daughter Sadie (Scott) Tomlin. he was preceded in death by his daughter, Amber Lee Peterson, his parents, Gordon and Leone Gurr and his sister, Dana Lee Murdock, and is also survived by his siblings, many cousins and friends.  He will truly be missed.
