Golden Francis Davis

November 13, 1934 — July 7, 2025

Bountiful, UT

Golden Francis Davis, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and mountain hiker, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2025, following a well lived, full life. Golden was born November 13, 1934, to Eleah Spongberg Woodhouse and George Wendall Davis in Preston, Idaho. In his youth he hunted, roamed the fields and creeks of Idaho with his brothers, and learned the value of hard work.

At the young age of 18, he married his sweetheart, Ida Sharp, on April 2, 1953. Golden and Ida together created a beautiful life for their family with hard work, frugality and fun family traditions. He cherished Ida and thanked God every day for such a wonderful companion. Golden was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings including alongside Ida in the South Davis Handicapped Mutual and the South Davis Community Center Hospital.

In his late years, Golden went back to work after retirement, served 20 years in the Bountiful Temple and walked 6 miles a day on his beloved mountain which he named “Dr. Hill.” Golden met his angels and many friends on that mountain and became an inspiration to all who encountered him on his daily hikes.

Golden leaves behind a legacy of integrity, kindness, gratitude, love of God, generosity, hard work, friendship, good humor and an eternal positive attitude. He truly is Golden.

He is deeply loved and cherished by his family, Richard (Chris) Davis, Bonnie Jean Davis, Jack (Teresa) Davis, Kent (Caroline) Davis, and Joy Frederiksen; grandchildren, Meagan (Lucas) Dunlap, Tyler (Sapphira) Davis, Michael Golden Davis, Mitchell Davis, Shaun Pace, Kirby (Jacob) Haslam, Dallas Davis, Kersey (Brandon) Hatten, Kenzy (Jose) Patino, Rusty (Codi) Frederiksen, Jody Frederiksen, and Sam (David) Earnshaw ; and 18 great-grandchildren who will always remember Grandpa Goldie.

The family extends their deepest appreciation to Dignity Hospice staff, Mindy, Maria and Morgan, who lovingly cared for Golden in his final weeks. Thank you also to family and friends for their kindness and loving support.
