Gloria Stephens

Gloria Stephens, age 72, was called home to her Heavenly Father & family on January 6, 2026. She was born to Earl & Harriet Stephens on May 7, 1953. She was the 6th child of 7 children. She graduated from Viewmont High School, and received a degree in music from the University of Utah. 

She enjoyed sewing, singing, playing the piano & the guitar. She loved tutoring young students with lesson plans that she would create. She would also write poems & music. 

Gloria served a mission in the Pennsylvania, Pittsburg mission. While she was serving in the mission field her father was called home. This was a very hard time for Gloria, but she carried on. She has worked for the genealogical library, a bank, an insurance company, & at a bakery in Bountiful. 

Gloria spent several years as her mother's primary care provider as dementia slowly took all of her mother's memories, abilities, & then her life. 

Gloria searched for her eternal companion for many years, but was unable to find him, so she remained single. 

The last several years of Gloria's life she struggled with mental issues, feeling like she couldn't trust others. So she closed herself off from family & friends to protect herself. 

We are very grateful to the West Bountiful police department, who became her guardian angels & watched over her as she walked through town running her errands. We also appreciate the many friends & neighbors that would offer her rides & watch out for her.

Gloria is survived by siblings Donna (Gordon) White, Jay (Connie) Stephens, JoLene (Bill) Flanders, Robert (Terri) Stephens, also 33 nieces & nephews, 124 grand nieces & nephews, & 35+ great grand nieces & nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Julia & LaVon, also 5 (grand) nieces, & (grand) nephews.In lieu of flowers, we would like to request everyone to email us their favorite story of Gloria. Email them to stephensrt@outlook.com.

There will be a graveside celebration of life for Gloria on January 31, 2026 at 1:00 pm. at the Crescent Cemetery at 11105 State Street, Sandy, Utah.
