Glenn Holbrook Wood, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on May 3, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side and joyfully reunited with his sweetheart, Donna Dean Argyle Wood, whom he missed dearly since her passing almost a year ago.
Glenn was born on September 17, 1938, in Bountiful, Utah, the youngest of four children to Ralph and Afton Wood. He was raised in Bountiful and attended Davis High School. After high school, Glenn served in the U.S. Army Reserve, where he was honored as the Outstanding Trainer of his six-month cycle. From 1957 to 1961, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Argentina—an experience that deepened his faith and commitment to serving others.
Upon returning home, a friend introduced Glenn to the love of his life, Donna—and as for Glenn, it was love at first sight. They were married on April 12, 1962, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they made their first home on 500 South in Bountiful, where they were blessed with three sons: Scott, Lynn, and Brett. After seven years, they moved to Farmington, where their family grew with the arrival of their youngest son, Brad.
Glenn graduated from Weber College and went on to establish his own insurance agency, Insur-West. Through years of hard work and personal sacrifice, he built a thriving family business—one that continues to this day, with his four sons and several grandchildren proudly carrying on his legacy.
Glenn had a deep love for the outdoors and he especially cherished the many camping, hunting, and fishing trips with his sons. He and Donna shared a passion for travel, visiting all 50 U.S. states, Canada, and many countries around the world. Among his favorite, was a memorable journey to South Africa with his sons and their wives.
A faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Glenn served in many callings throughout his life, including bishop of the Farmington 11th Ward. Together with Donna, he served as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple for six years and later as a missionary couple at the Church historic sites in St. George, Utah. His quiet, steady discipleship was reflected in everything he did.
Glenn will also be remembered for his boundless generosity and kind heart. He was known for handing out gold dollar coins, two-dollar bills, and occasionally fifty- or hundred-dollar bills—small gestures that brought big smiles. He delivered smoothies to neighbors, brought local corn, Idaho potatoes and Cache Valley cheese to loved ones, and never hesitated to shovel a neighbor’s sidewalk or quietly care for a widow in need. Acts of kindness were simply part of who he was.
Glenn was preceded in death by his mother and father; his beloved wife, Donna; his brother, Ralph Edward Wood; his sister, Wilma Wood Reaser; and his grandson, Porter Brad Wood. He is survived by his four sons; Scott (Leanne), Lyndy (Kim), Brett (Angie), Brad (Casey); 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three more great-grandchildren on the way; his sister, Jerrolyn Wood Jordan; and many nieces and nephews.
Glenn’s life was marked by service, love and unwavering devotion to his faith and family. His influence and example will be felt for generations to come by all who were blessed to know him.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Kim Hustead, a nurse at Caregiver Support Network, for the kind, loving, and genuine way she took care of Glenn.
