Geraldine Ellen Pankhurst Martin

June 30, 1938 — May 3, 2024

Geraldine “Gerry” Martin passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024, from complications of pneumonia with her four children and other loved ones at her bedside.  She was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on June 30, 1938, to Ernest Jack and Leah Payne Pankhurst.  She married her sweetheart A. Keith Martin on August 26, 1959, in the Cardston Alberta Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and then moved to Los Angeles, California.  After brief stints in Lake Oswego and Roseburg, Keith and Gerry settled in Eugene, Oregon to raise their children Robin, Charla, Scott, and Cameron.  After Keith unexpectedly passed away in 2000, Gerry subsequently moved to Bountiful, Utah in 2007 to be closer to some of her children.

Gerry was proud of her Canadian heritage, her father’s butcher shop, and her mother’s delicious meat pies.  Gerry, herself, was a dedicated homemaker renowned for her sewing skills, freshly baked bread, homemade pizza, and flavorful holiday hard tack candies – the favorite of many friends.  Her greatest passion was her family.

Gerry was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She and her late husband served as Mission Leaders in the Minnesota Minneapolis Mission from 1996-1999.  She loved her missionaries!  Throughout her life, she enjoyed serving her church community, friends, and neighbors.

Later in life, she made concerted efforts to befriend residents and staff at Creekside Senior Living in Bountiful, Utah by sharing candy treats, puzzle books, and warm conversations and smiles.

She is survived by her children Robin (Robert) Harker, Charla (Spencer, deceased) Watts, Scott (Christina) Martin, and Cameron (Julie) Martin; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and her brother Robert (Sylvia) Pankhurst.

She was preceded in death by her husband Keith (2000), sister Shirley Godlonton (2014), and son-in-law Spencer (2022).  The family wishes to thank all those who lovingly cared for Gerry, especially during the last eight years of her life.
