Gerald Douglas Minion, Jr.

August 12, 1952 — November 21, 2025

Herriman, Utah

Gerald Douglas Minion, Jr., age 73, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, in Murray, Utah, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 12, 1952, in Taber, Alberta, Canada to G. Douglas and Carolyn (Edwards) Minion, Gerald grew up with strong values of faith, family, and service. He was married to the “Love of his Life”, Cheryl Sharp, to whom he was a truly loving and devoted husband and very best friend. Together they built a wonderful life centered on love for their family and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Gerald was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life. He served a full-time mission in the Alabama-Florida Mission (formerly the Southern States Mission), USA, where he shared his testimony and touched many lives. His dedication to the Savior continued as he served in many callings, always striving to help uplift and strengthen those around him.

He was a loving father to his children: Joanie (Curtis) Minion-Jackson, David (Shantanna) Minion, Leslie (Spencer Mohlman) Minion, Stacey (Michael) Minion-Mirci, and Heather (Drew) Majors, William (Debi) Sharp, Jarret (Laura) Sharp, Amy (Rob) Nilsson, Wendy (Tim) Barron and James (Abby) Sharp. Gerald was the very proud grandfather to 51 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment he spent with them—whether at family gatherings, holidays, or just simple everyday moments.

Gerald has always been known and respected for his integrity and hard work. He was constantly working and coming up with ideas to try and make things better. He was a “jack of many trades”, working many jobs. He built successful businesses and always seemed to have multiple “Irons in the Fire” going on. Outside of work, he really enjoyed the opportunities he had to live away from the hustle and bustle, and live a somewhat “cowboy” lifestyle, caring for his horses, rabbits, chickens, pigeons, etc. over the years. Throughout it all, he was known for his kindness, sense of humor, and always his willingness to help others.

Gerald is survived by his beloved wife, Cheri; his children; grandchildren; siblings Denise (John) Silvernail, Suzanne (Marvin) Cook, Dianne (Steve) Bogden, Dale (Ria) Minion and Jeanette (Patrick) Christensen; countless nieces and nephews and many dear lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, G. Douglas and Carolyn Minion.
