Gerald "Jerry" Johnson

Gerald “Jerry” Johnson, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26th, 2026. Jerry was born on September 5, 1935, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Gustav Albert Johnson and Dorothy Viallet Johnson. We are unsure of the cause of death, as he was only 90 years young.

Jerry befriended many unique and quirky people during his life. Most of his friends were artists. He did not consider himself to be an artist, yet his photography, sketching, painting, and home improvements proved otherwise.

Jerry was fond of animals and had many dogs throughout the years, Dusty being one of his favorites. His love of animals found its way into his photography. He once photographed a wounded fox that he later took to the veterinarian. He entered that photo into a contest, where it was stolen off the gallery wall before it could be judged. Jerry was opinionated, quick tempered, but also quick to forgive.

Although Jerry preferred peace to war he proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Okinawa.

In his early working years, he owned and operated two bars in Salt Lake City. He once was given a spider monkey to settle a bar tab. Later, Jerry joined and was a proud member of Local 140 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union.

Jerry shared five children with his former spouse, Janet Clark: Becky (Rod) Kerr, Andra (Rich) Daines, Clark (Debbie) Johnson, Mark (Stacy) Johnson, and Jennifer (Tim) Parker. He had 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He later married Christine, with whom he shared many years.

Jerry was an atheist and requested there be no services. He encouraged us to help friends in need and had a soft spot for the down and out. Among his favorite charities were Best Friends Animal Society and Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.

It was important to Jerry and his children to acknowledge the kindness and care he received from A plus healthcare at home. He is loved and will be missed.
