Gail Rodney Dennis

March 11, 1928 — May 16, 2015

Gail Rodney Dennis, our beloved Dad, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, brother and Uncle passed away peacefully May 16, 2015, at the home of his daughter, Lori.

He was born March 11, 1928, in Myton, Utah to Syerl and Ora Dennis. He graduated early from Roosevelt High School and joined in the US Navy from 1946-1948, a fireman first class with an honorable discharge.

Returning home he began working at the SL Stockyards where he worked until it closed operations. He met the love of his life ShirLee May Smith at a company picnic.

They were married on October 28, 1950. Solemnized in the Bountiful Temple on October 28, 2002.

He is survived by his son, Steven (Bonnie) Dennis, Daughters, Kris (Robert) Shunkwiler, Lori (Doug)Thompson.

Grandchildren, Michelle, (David) Hatch, Jard (Lana) Dennis, Michael (Heidi) Lyth, Missy, Cassi (Ryan) Rowley. Great Grandchildren, Devan (Stephanie), Ashlee (Tyson) Jordan, Jamie, Logan and Karson.

Brother, Clayton Dennis, Sisters, Charlotte (Roy) Broderick, Julie (Delbert) Merkley and Irene (Jim) Manookin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stepmother, Dawna, Brothers, Kay and Noman Dennis and beloved wife of 64 years, ShirLee. What a great reunion at his homecoming.

We would like to thank CNS Hospice nurse, Stephanie for her loving care and his CNA, Carrie.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Russon Brothers Mortuary 295 North Main, Bountiful at 2:00 p.m, where friends and family may visit from 12:30-1:45 p.m. Interment at Lakeview Memorial Estate, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah.
