Eva Dee Wixom

July 8, 1944 — February 1, 2024

On February 1, 2024, after a difficult but valiant battle with recent health condition, Eva Dee’s body may have lost this earthly battle, but her faith kept her strong as she prepared to meet her Lord.

Eva Dee was born on July 8, 1944, in Red Cloud, NE to Ernest and Gladys Callaway.  She grew up as the youngest of 5 children in small farming communities of Red Cloud, NE, Mankato, KS and Hastings, NE, where she would graduate from high school in 1962.

She later moved to Ogden, UT and attended Stevens-Henager College in Ogden, UT.

She met the love of her life, Tom Wixom, on a blind date that was arranged by one of her closest friends, Al Dean Wixom, who would later become one of her sisters-in law.  Tom and Eva Dee were married on January 10, 1976, and raised their three children, Trish, Lori and Tee.

Eva Dee began a career as a bookkeeper then moved her way in various civilian roles with the IRS then later at Hill Air Force Base in Clearfield UT, F. E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, WY and again at Hill Air Force Base.

Family was exceptionally important to her, and she would do anything to support and protect her family.

She retired from the civilian workforce in 1996 for her new role and title as Full-Time Grandma, which was the role she absolutely loved.  In 2017, she added a new role when she enthusiastically claimed the title Gigi at the birth of her first great granddaughter.

During her lifetime, she always had a contagious smile and a very charismatic personality – she could make friends everywhere she went.

She is preceded in death by her grandson, Bryan Burt, her siblings, and her parents.  She is survived by her husband, Tom Wixom; Children: Trish (Stuart Booth), Lori (Neil Poff), and Thomas “Tee” Wixom; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

The family wish to express our sincerest appreciation and gratitude to the medical staff at the Loveland Clinic at LDS Hospital; the medical team at the IHC Layton Hospital Infusion Center; the nurses and medical staff of the 8 East Oncology Floor of LDS Hospital; staff at IHC Hospice, especially Eva Dee’s hospice nurses, Kristy and Renee, in recognition of their compassion and care during these last several weeks of her life.
