It is with heavy hearts that we share that Erin Brooke Clarke, age 45, passed away peacefully at her home in Centerville, Utah. Erin was born on November 19, 1980. She is survived by her husband, Joshua Clarke, and her two beautiful daughters, Kenley and Molly, who were the center of her world.
Erin was, quite simply, one of the kindest people you could ever know. She loved people deeply and had a natural gift for making everyone feel seen, valued, and welcome. She could talk to anyone, tell a great story, and, if you gave her the chance, she would absolutely make you laugh… often with her perfectly timed and slightly inappropriate sense of humor. Her favorite line, “that’s what she said,” became something everyone around her came to expect and love.
She found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life… traveling with her family, spending time outdoors, baking, serving others, and building deep, lasting friendships. She especially loved Christmas, a time that reflected so much of who she was… full of warmth, generosity, and joy. Erin was a devoted and loving mother, and her kindness and patience shaped the lives of her daughters in lasting ways. She brought balance, strength, and light into her family that cannot be replaced.
Erin faced ALS with extraordinary courage. After first experiencing symptoms in 2020 and receiving a diagnosis in 2023, she endured a steady loss of physical ability. Yet even as the disease progressed, taking her strength, her voice, and eventually requiring a ventilator and feeding support… she never lost her spirit. She continued to smile, to laugh, and to bring joy to those around her every single day. Her bravery was undeniable, but even more remarkable was her unwavering kindness through it all. She lived by a simple but powerful mantra: “Be brave. Be kind.” Erin didn’t just say those words, she embodied them. She was one of the most courageous people we have ever known, and her heart of gold left a lasting impact on every person who had the privilege of knowing her.
Erin had a deep and abiding testimony of Jesus Christ. She believed firmly in his atonement and in the promise of eternal life. It brings comfort to know that she has returned to her Heavenly Father and has been reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.
Erin’s life was full of love, laughter, service, and faith. Though she endured profound challenges, she remained joyful, present, and deeply connected to the people she loved. Her impact will be felt for generations. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
